Edouard (Eddy) Melanson, 82, of Foyer St. Thomas Nursing Home, St. Joseph, died Monday at the home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Pré-d'en-Haut, he was a son of the late Siméon and Marguerite (Belliveau) Melanson. He had been a cook by profession and worked in various localities in the region.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Edmée Richard of Pré-d'en-Haut, Mrs. Bertha Arsenault of Fitchburg, Mass., and Mrs. Exia Gaudet of Dieppe; two brothers, Blair of Foyer St. Thomas and Dominique of Pré-d'en-Haut ; and a number of nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Aurèle, Jimmy and Gilbert, died previously.
The body will be at Dupuis Funeral Home, Memramcook, this evening. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at Notre Dame de l'Annonciation Roman Catholic Church, Pré-d'en-Haut, at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
